Summer 2018 - Day 68-69: Chips 'N' Lizards

At Eat N Park, we sometimes try their appetizers. Today instead of fried pickles or pretzel sticks, we had some of their fresh made potato chips! A definite winner!

Walking on the game trail and I see this bright orange spot on the path. A closer inspection revealed this little bright orange guy. Glad I saw you before I stepped on you!

Summer 2018 - Day 67: Game Trail Wanderings

Before the weather gets too crazy with rain, I've been taking hikes in the morning on the game trail near the RV park.

Recently there have been some paths cleared and hay spread along some areas on the paths.

The muddy stretches have some deer tracks embedded in them, though I've only seen deer more towards the evenings.

Here is a stack of stones that I'm sure is 100% natural, as well as the blue paint.

Summer 2018 - Day 65-66: Picking Up Supplies For Rainy Weather

How is the forest so green here in Pennsylvania during the height of Summer? When you have ongoing rain like this, it's easy to keep things lively! Went to Eat N Park in Franklin, then over to Wally World for some supplies.

Summer 2018 - Day 64: Stuck Behind The Paint Truck

After lunch at Clarion Eat N Park, we thought it would be nice to take a drive somewhere we haven't gone to. We drove past the freeway onramp through small towns like Sligo, PA. Finally it was time to turn back around again.

Like the funeral procession in Punxsutawney, we were held up. This time it was a truck driving way behind a paint truck. For miles we couldn't go faster than 10 miles an hour or pass the truck ahead of us. So we really got a slow drive through the country! Finally I guess the painting truck ahead stopped and we sped up again.

Do ot what?

Summer 2018 - Day 60-63: What's Happening on the Game Trails?

Over the past few days, heavy machinery has been clearing out more and more of the grass on the Pennsylvania Game Trail.

I wonder if they'll use this field for anything. Maybe it's just to keep the brush low to prevent forest fires in the area.

But we did get a kitty come by the RV!

Summer 2018 - Day 57-59: Trying To Find New Restaurants

Zooey is contemplating lunch. We've been enjoying the buffet options in and around Shippenville and Clarion, but they do tend to get a little stale. And when you go to any restaurant long enough, strange things will begin to happen, like the breakers on the soup heaters go off leaving you with lukewarm chowder, or you get ignored in the corner on a Monday afternoon following lunch rush. So today we went to Bettina's Italian Restaurant for some penne and pizza sub. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of a change. Then afterwards we went to a Dollar General for the first time in what seemed like a long time. We noticed that "Dollar General Smell" that seems uniform across all Dollar Generals. Even though it's not supposed to rain today, it was really windy and dark clouds accumulo-lated on one side of the sky. Made it back to the RV just as it started sprinkling!

Summer 2018 - Day 56: Head First In The Food Bag

Coming back from an early morning walk, saw a large box from Chewy leaned against the door of the RV. Pulling the bag from the box, I opened the bag to see if Buddy still enjoyed the food. Before long, Buddy had his head stuck inside the bag eating straight from the source. Guess he still likes it! Not only that, but I saw Buddy drinking water after eating the dry food. Guess we're back to buying the expensive food again.

Summer 2018 - Day 54-55: Cat-astrophie

Since Buddy was meowing strangely, it earned him a one way ticket to the Clarion Animal Hospital. Gathering him up and carrying him to the bathroom where his carrier was waiting for him. Loading him into the car, we drove 10 minutes to the hospital.

Waiting in the ... well, waiting room, dogs were sniffing around. A man walked from a room carrying a cat in a carrier. Soon we were called into the room where an assistant went over all of Buddy's pertinent information.

The doctor came in and they gave Buddy a couple booster shots. They checked his eyes, which they said were showing age but nothing terrible. They said his teeth looked good.

They gave us a prescription for Royal Canin, the type we've been feeding him since 2012. Hope he still likes it!

Buddy did a great job in getting his shots and even having some blood drawn for his test. Here's his medal for his booster shot.

At Eat N Park, for some reason after the first few minutes, the waitstaff completely disappeared. No one came to check on us. Had to ask for a to go refill on strawberry lemonade since no one came by the table.

Later on, we received a call from Clarion Animal Hospital. Buddy's blood levels are great! Yay, our kitty is doing well. I don't think I'm ready for another sick kitty just yet. We tried to order the special prescription cat food, but Chewy said we needed a written prescription rather than just having them call in. But then we received an email saying they were sending the food to us. Huh, I don't know.

Summer 2018 - Day 53: Planning The Future And Burning The Past

Hard to believe, but it's time to start thinking about a time past the summer where the temperatures will start dipping lower and it's time to find a place to spend the winter. It's better to start looking earlier in case a park you want to visit is already booked up. A popular park can be filled already six months in advance. We went to Applebee's to start laying out a path that would keep us out of major cities and give us the easiest path without too many curvy roads or stops in smaller towns. At McDonald's we looked at some RV parks and even some state and national parks that it will be nice to stay at. We worked our way up to Texarkana before we left.

I was getting documents ready for Buddy's vet visit tomorrow. I pulled out documents that I thought the vet would want to see. But there were quite a few that we didn't need anymore. I took those documents plus some from the car that we've had and set them on fire in the pit behind the RV.
It was surreal to see documents from as far back as 2001 and school being set ablaze, but we simply had no more use for them. Also I had quite a few receipts I had kept as well made for fast burning kindling, receipts from Walmart and Bashas' from 2015. Keeping documents isn't the easiest when you're on the road all the time.

Summer 2018 - Day 49-52: Bunch Of Stuff From The Game Trail and Eat N Park

When you stay a long time at one place, the time seems to stretch out like a trail in front of you.

Rustic Acres has a small 9-hole miniature golf course near the front office

In the front office is the standard odds and ends a camper might need if they've forgotten anything. This was when I was in the office paying the monthly rent for the summer.

There have been some heavy equipment on the game trail for the past few days. A path to the side has been cleared out and hay spread around. Wonder what they're doing...

The summer isn't just a time for sun, but occasional rains as well.

The sun shines through the branches after a mild rain.

Eat N Park not only has a nice soup and salad buffet, but also smiley cookies in all colors.

Summer 2018 - Day 47-48: Both Ends Of The Street

There's a road that leads up to the RV park. On one end is the game trail which branches off into other directions. On the other end before the street turns to the right is a chain link fence with what appears to be plows for winter use.

Summer 2018 - Day 44-46: Don't Trust Cheap Soda!

The Fourth of July emptied out the stores so that we couldn't find our standard lemon lime sodas. So we took a chance on the store version. We thought, "How could they mess this up?" Well, it wasn't horrible but it just kind of tasted flat. Glad we spent something like $1.50 on a six-pack.

The sun is starting to dry out the game trails again. Plus it's starting to get really warm! Having to hike earlier so it's not super warm while walking.

Summer 2018 - Day 43: I'm Game If You Are!

The rain made a few places on the game trail muddy, but the heat is starting to dry things out. It's up to 80 degrees today, but it's also raining. Not sure what to make of the rainy/super warm weather!

Summer 2018 - Day 42: Blazing Warm 4th of July

Photo from TripAdvisor

Today the rain didn't beat the crud out of us like it did in the Walmart parking lot a couple days ago. Though it was slated to rain on the 4th of July, it ended up being super warm. Not knowing which restaurants would be open, we took a chance on Sakura Buffet which was in fact still open.

Wanting to do something special for the 4th of July, we made the long drive to the Cinemark Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills to see the documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? about Fred Rogers. We seem to be seeing a lot of documentaries about people from Pittsburgh ... in Pittsburgh! We learned a lesson, always get a drink one size larger than the popcorn. You can always have a drink if you run out of popcorn, but you can't eat popcorn if you run out of drink!

After the movie, we made our way back to the Clarion Walmart for some supplies and went to the RV where the AC was mercifully still on. Time to stay inside until it decides to cool down. Looks like the weather across the country is pretty warm as well.

Summer 2018 - Day 40-41: Awaiting The Medicine's Arrival

The last few days has been spent making arrangements to get something desperately needed. Finally on Monday we received a package that we were waiting for. Instead of showing the medication, here is a bowl of chili from Eat N Park.

Summer 2018 - Day 37-39: The Weekend Of The Benefit Luncheon In Front of Our RV

Over the weekend, they had a benefit Italian lunch near where we were camping. We had to drive around the library and park in front of our RV in a different direction. They set up quite a few tables and raffle prizes and I think they got quite a few people to stop by.

As I walked the game trail after a heavy rain, my path was blocked by a branch that snapped off and blocked the entire road. I guess that's just normal wear and tear in the forest. Should've brought a saw and got some free firewood!
