Spring 2018 Trip: Day 33 - Jamestown Settlement

Hello ferry, we meet again. Waiting in line for the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry to cross the James River.

After a 15-minute ride, we arrive on the other side and drive to the Jamestown Settlement.

Inside the museum, there's no photography allowed in the exhibit areas. But you can get pictures of the exterior recreations of James Fort, the Native Village, and the three ships.

Walking from the museum to a recreation of the James Fort. You can relive the days of yore by interacting with settlers and entering buildings.

From the James Fort, we take a walk over to the Native Village.

And then we head towards the water to see recreations of the three ships: the Sarah Constant, Discovery, and the Godspeed.

At the dock with the Sarah Constant.

The other two ships, the Discovery and Godspeed. You can walk onboard these ships and explore life on the high seas.

So we walked from the dock down the boardwalk back to the museum.

And if you want to brush up on your knowledge of state flags, the courtyard at the front is a great place to see all flags flying.

After the Jamestown Settlement, at 4:00 we drive to the ferry expecting that we'll need to wait until 4:30 and the next one. To our surprise, the ferry is able to accommodate the long line of cars and we head back to the State Park.
